GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS OF CASE STUDIES/CASELETS


SMART Journal of Business Management Studies, a PROFESSIONAL, REFEREED INTERNATIONAL AND INDEXED JOURNAL welcomes original Case Studies/Caselets from experts including bankers, industrialists, professionals, teachers, researchers and practitioners in business management science. The SMART Journal requests the Authors, Reviewers and Editors to follow the guidelines given in the Publication Ethics link under Journal Website.

(A) General Framework

* Case Studies/Caselets should be supported with empirical data and analysis, indicating the applicability of theory.
* Quality Case Studies/Caselets, not exceeding 7-10 pages, will be accepted for publication.
* Case Studies/Caselets must be related to current business management issues, analyzed in depth with the latest authenticated data and appropriate statistical tools.
* Case Studies must be written in Standard English. The article should be professionally proof-read in terms of clarity, grammar,
   spellings, punctuation and consistency of references to minimize the editorial changes.
* All manuscripts must be prepared according to APA FORMAT as described in the Publication Manual (6th ed.), American Psychological Association, 2010.

(B) Format of Case Study

The Case Study/Caselets could involve, for example, an in-depth study of a specific event or a particular problem encountered and solved. Case Studies could illustrate, explore, report, analyze, summarize, debunk, challenge, or simply describe. The case study/Caselets should investigate a phenomenon within its real-life context. Case studies/Caselets can be the analyses of persons, groups, events, decisions, periods, policies, institutions or other systems that are studied holistically by one or more methods.

(C) Title Page

This should list the title of the Case, which should include the Case design. The strategy to be implemented, the environment of the case study and tools applied to solve the cases should be reflected in the title of the Case Study. Full names, institutional addresses, and email addresses for all authors must be included on the title page. The corresponding author should also be indicated.

(D) Abstract

This should not exceed 200 words. The abstract should cover the case description, discussion, evaluation and conclusion.

(E) Keywords/JEL Code

The main content of the case study should be reflected in three to six keywords.

(F)Background

The background of the case study should be explained before describing the case. This would enable the readers to understand the context. The pertinent conceptual background and theoretical framework should be explained. This part should contain a brief statement of what is being emphasized in this case study.

(G)Case Description

The case should be described by explaining the role of the people and/or institutions relating to the case problem. Depending on the subject of the case, this may include financial or non-financial data description. If needed, the subsections can be included under this part.

(H)Discussion and Evaluation

The problem/business issues under study would be evaluated by considering all feasible solutions and finalizing the most effective solution. Thus this section can explain the advantages and disadvantages of each and every feasible solution.

(I)Conclusions

This part should summarise the problem learnt, possible solutions and final solutions. Further the suggestions can be offered for achieving the contingency plan.

(J) General Guidelines for Case Writers

The Guidelines given under the heads General Framework, Tables and Charts, Number and Percentages, Use of Quotations, Use of Italics, References, Plagiarism, Undertaking letter, Payment of Publication Fee and Editorial Policy in the Guidelines for Contributors are applicable for Case Study/Caselets also.

The manuscript should be sent along with a declaration, signed by the author (s) with official seal / from the official letter head that the paper is original and it has not been published earlier nor submitted for publication elsewhere. A copy of the Declaration Form can be downloaded and the photo copy of the same must be used by the author(s).

CASES THAT DO NOT CONFORM TO THESE GUIDELINES WILL BE REJECTED.
